Pajama Party – Slumber the Night Away!

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

Giving a pajama party is really not much different from other parties but there are some crucial things to keep in mind. The Pajama Party is much longer! This may seem really obvious but the added hours of entertaining will require additional planning. All of the things that the shorter party requires is multiplied by the length of time that the Slumber Party guests will be attending.

Pajama party menus need to include easy breakfast items as well as midnight snacks. Paper party supplies can be themed or simply festive depending on the interests of the children invited. Let their interests determine whether to buy basketball themed party supplies or those featuring cartoon characters. Decorations don’t need to be as elaborate as they are with a birthday party but there does need to be more paper cups, plates, napkins, and plastic flatware since more food will be consumed.

Consider the increased volume of snack foods eaten while late night Slumber Partiers’ are watching those scary movies. Snack bowls in the same pattern as the basic party theme or simply in coordinating colors will prevent wear and tear on the good china.

Try to make sure the home is even more child proof than usual. Night lights can prevent falls in the night and make children feel more secure away from home. Stock hand towels and wash cloths in a basket or simply stack them in plain view. It’s a good idea to keep extra blankets and linens easily accessible as well. Try buying a supply of basic toiletry samples to place on the bathroom vanity in an organizer for the forgetful.

Finally, if grade school or younger children are invited you will need accurate and detailed contact information for each of them. If there is an emergency it may be impossible to contact out of town guardians for necessary medical permission.

Glow Sticks Fun for Dance Parties

Monday, October 19th, 2009

Have you ever walked into a club where the people had glow sticks on the dance floor? We’ve all been at the roller-skating rink where you could buy the glow in the dark necklaces or bracelets. There wasn’t a kid in sight who didn’t want to join in with that popular craze. There was something about the fact that they glowed.

As children, we didn’t know how it worked or why it worked but we did know that by the next morning the glow would be gone. We had to live it up while we could. Maybe it was the fact that they had to be cracked in order to release the power of the glow. Maybe it was a sense of creating something and bringing light where there once wasn’t any. Who knows why children crave the glowing fetish but it is clear that the craze doesn’t die when we get older. We merely yearn for bigger and better things and ways to appeal our inner child.

When the lights at a dance party turn off, the glow sticks come out. With the hand held light sticks, party goers can wave them around the dance floor to create a more interesting atmosphere. But the fun doesn’t stop with light sticks.

Glow in the dark items come in a lot of different forms. Light up your party’s beverages with glowing straws, cups, shot glasses or margarita glasses. Light up the bodies of your guests with glowing earrings, bracelets or necklaces. But don’t stop there. Use smaller light sticks as decorations or buy different glowing shapes for table decorations or centerpieces. We found many of these glow stick ideas at www.glowsticksshop.com. If you are planning to have a dance party, having glow sticks as a party accessory is a great way to go.

Bachelorette Wild Thing Bridal Party

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

A bachelorette party is a relatively new celebration similar to a bridal shower. The groom-to-be isn’t the only one allowed to have a last stand party celebrating the end of his “freedom.” Girls get in on the action now with their own bachelorette parties.

When planning a bachelorette party, consult a party planning specialist from a party supply store. They will have motifs to choose from if you want clean or naughty themed decorations. Clean decorations can include brides and bride apparel, or any theme such as a luau or western party. Naughty parties have decorations shaped like male genitalia!

No matter what your theme is, send out invitations. Make them coordinate with any other decorations you buy. Balloons and streamers in any color, as well as paper products are available at a party supply store. If you are having a night out at the bar, they carry novelty items to take along. A blow up, life sized doll can be attached to the bride via handcuffs. She can wear a fake veil or a T-shirt begging for help.

If you are having a tame party, plan a meal and games. Order in pizza and watch porno movies. Make it a combination naughty and nice party.

Either party requires intimate gifts for the bride. Lingerie, lotions and robes are all fun gifts to give, as well as receive, at a bachelorette party. Take pictures of the bride-to-be trying on her duds to send to the groom-to-be. That qualifies as naughty too.

A stripper might show up, so don’t be shocked. If elderly women are present, prevent them from having strokes! Or they might surprise the young ladies with a thing or two.

Send out thank you cards and a picture of the whole gang at the party. It’s a great way to remember the night!
